Makati City donates P4-M to 'Pablo' victims
MANILA, Philippines - The Makati City Council has approved the release of P4 million from the city’s 2012 executive budget for the assistance of victims of typhoon Pablo in the provinces of Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley.
Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay said the P4-million relief assistance, sourced from the Quick Response Fund under the Local Disaster Risk Management Fund of Makati, would be allocated for relief and rehabilitation assistance to the municipalities of Compostela, Maragusan and Nabunturan of Compostela Valley, and to the localities of Banaybanay, Lupon and Mati City of Davao Oriental.
Meanwhile, Binay said two search and rescue dogs from the Philippine K9 Search and Rescue Foundation and a rescue team from the Makati Rescue have so far helped retrieve seven fatalities in New Bataan, Compostela Valley. The rescue team accompanied by rescue equipment was dispatched last December 7.
Binay said the recue team will stay in Compostela Valley for as long as they are needed by local officials.
“The devastation in Compostela Valley really saddens us. Makati will provide assistance in whatever form to alleviate the suffering of the people affected by Pablo,” he said.
