3 missing fishermen from GenSan found dead
MANILA, Philippines - The bodies of three of the more than 300 missing fishermen from General Santos City were found on Wednesday floating near a coastal barangay in Baganga, Davao Oriental.
Lt. Commander Jaybon Calica of the Philipine Coast Guard said that the bodies belonged to Geramine Plenos, Armando Sedano and Renato Labid, crew of fishing vessel Philcon-5 from General Santos City.
Calica said that the three fishermen were identified through identification cards found in their bodies.
The bodies were found floating along the coast of Barangay Baculin.
The three were among the 313 fishermen from General Santos City listed as missing by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
The bodies of the three fishermen have been brought to the local funeral parlor.
On Monday, another three crews of a fishing vessel were found floating off the waters of Caraga.
Calica said three crews of a fishing vessel from General Santos City were rescued by fishermen in Caraga town. They were identified as Roger Mendoza, Joseph Resnera, Bobby Farcaldo and Dante Barsina, all from General Santos City.
He said the three survivors were found after floating in the seas off Davao Oriental for days. They bore wounds and were already suffering from dehydration.
