Masbate councilor bet shot dead

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – A barangay captain who is running for councilor under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) in Aroroy, Masbate was shot dead by unidentified men at around 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Superintendent Renato Bataller, Bicol police spokesman, said Edwin Dalinog, chief of Barangay Luy-a, suffered several gunshot wounds in the body.

Bataller said a manhunt for the suspects has been launched.

“Although the victim is a politician, being an incumbent barangay captain and councilor bet in Aroroy this coming elections, we have yet to establish whether or not the killing is politically motivated,” Bataller told The STAR.
