The Philippine Star

A total of 7,500.00 AED or roughly P80,000.00 was raised by the Filipino Community in Dubai and Northern Emirates (FilCom DNE) in a “Brunch for a Cause” held last December 7 at Chelsea Plaza Hotel to help the victims of Typhoon Pablo.

Consul General Frank R. Cimafranca expressed  thanked all kababayans who participated in the fund raising  and helping those in need especially as Christmas approaches. He also noted the continuous demonstration of bayanihan spirit and was thankful to be part of and a witness to this exemplary action.

Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Grace R. Princesa also showed her support with her presence. FilCom Governing Council President Matilyn Bagunu was thankful that many Filipinos showed up in the event despite the very short notice and short time for preparations.

She also stated that the activity is just the beginning of more fund-raising activities. A donation box was also installed at the Pegasus Bar. Bagunu also said that the fund shall be coursed through the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).

FilCom DNE’s Task Force Habagat Chairman Wendell Castro also announced that at least 30 boxes of in-kind donations from the Filipino Community and friends in the UAE are expected to be collected and sent to the Philippines as soon as possible.

Filcom DNE’s leadership is also reaching out to more Filipinos in the UAE through various media.

FilCom DNE is the umbrella organization of 65 accredited Filipino organizations in Dubai and Northern Emirates.
