Man killed in Ilocos Norte ambush

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines– A man was killed while another remains in critical condition following an ambush along the national highway in Barangay 20, Sarrat, Ilocos Norte early yesterday.

Superintendent Jessie Gorospe, Ilocos Norte police spokesman, identified the fatality as Rex Belmonte while his companion, Michael Estor, is confined at an undisclosed hospital. Both victims were residents of Solsona town.

Reports said the victims were riding a motorcycle on their way home from Laoag City when unidentified armed men shot them.

Police are still investigating the motive for the killing.
