Bulacan mayor to file raps over sports complex anomaly

MALOLOS CITY, Philippines – Mayor Christian Natividad of this city vowed to file charges against personalities involved in the alleged anomalous construction of the P150-million sports complex here.

“We gathered documents and it is almost complete,” said Natividad in an interview over Radyo Bulacan yesterday morning.

He noted that the sports complex was tagged by residents here as a “white elephant.”

The Malolos City Sports Complex was constructed during the last few months of the last term of former mayor Danilo Domingo.

However, Domingo’s camp dismissed Natividad’s threat, saying the mayor was only trying to save face after his pet project, the P350-million new city hall hit a snag.

The Malolos Employes Association led by Danilo Valenzuela tried to stop the bidding for the project by filing a case, claiming it failed to comply with essential requirements of posting under Republic Act 9184 or the Government Electronic Procurement System and publication in a daily newspaper of general circulation.

Natividad, however, said everything was above board.
