7 nabbed for slaughtering dogs in Pangasinan
MALASIQUI, Pangasinan , Philippines– Police arrested seven people, including a minor, for killing dogs by burning them in Sitio Dinacuan, Barangay Taloy here last Thursday.
At least 22 dogs and the bodies of 49 others were recovered from the suspects.
Rino Montano, 50, a resident of Arvizo street in Upper Quezon Hill, Baguio City; Roger Maravilla, 47, of San Pedro Laguna; Jessie Ferrer, 22, of Barangay Balite, San Carlos City, Pangasinan; Lito Rodriguez, 53, and Delfin Lucena, 32, both residents of Sitio Dinacuan; Rex Pacleb, 33, of Camiling, Tarlac and a 17-year-old boy were charged for violation of Republic Acts 8485 and 9482.
Melchor Alipio of the Philippine Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Network for Animals alerted police on the burning of dogs in the area.
The STAR learned that it was the third time that the burning of dogs, whose meat are sold in Baguio City was done in the barangay.
