5 hurt in Cubao grenade blast
MANILA, Philippines - Five people were hurt in a grenade explosion along EDSA in Cubao, Quezon City on Monday night.
The Senior Superintendent Marcelino Pedroso, Quezon City Police Station 10 commander, identified the victims as Manuel Milanio, Niño Espina, Katherine Escabel, Felecidad Orencio and Rommel Sintorios.
The explosion took place in front of an apartelle along EDSA southbound at around 9 p.m. The grenade exploded along the sidewalk along the highway.
Pedroso said that Milanio, Espina and Escabel were on board a passenger bus when the blast took place. The blast shattered the glass windows of the bus and wounded the three victims.
The two other injured victims were on the sidewalk when the grenade exploded.
Pedroso said that they already have in their custody two persons who may be involved in the grenade blast. The suspects include two construction workers and a motel roomboy.
The police commander added that a witness was also already in the police's protective custody.
The police were still investigating the incident.
