DPWH worker killed in ambush

CAMP RAVINA, Aurora, Philippines  – A worker at the maintenance office of the Department of Public Works and Highways office was killed while four others, including a policeman, were wounded during an ambush by suspected New People’s Army rebels in Maria Aurora town Friday.

Senior Superintendent Teodorico Perez Sr., provincial police director, said Jayson Geronimo, a resident of Sitio Dimani, Barangay Villa Aurora, died from gunshot wounds in the back.

Angelito Sumbillo, who suffered a gunshot wound in the head, was critically wounded. Police Officer 3 Danilo Mananghaya of the Maria Aurora police, DWPH driver Javier Ancheta and a certain Melbert Tumpalan were slightly injured.
