Dino Balabo - The Philippine Star

MALOLOS CITY , Philippines  – The plight of indigenous people (IP) in the country, along with the importance and richness of their culture, will take center stage in a three-day celebration here next week.

Dubbed as “Dayaw 2012” with the theme “Katutubong Pamumuhay, Halawan ng Aral sa Buhay,” the celebration will kick off on Nov. 27.

Organized by the National Commission on Culture and Arts in coordination with the Bulacan provincial government and the Malolos City government, the celebration will be held at the provincial capitol grounds here.

Bro. Martin Francisco, of the Sagip Sierra Madre Environmental Society who used to work with Dumagats in Bulacan, said Dayaw 2012 is a good opportunity in understanding the plight of IP communities in the country which is usually not reported in the media.
