‘Dead man’ turns up alive

The Philippine Star

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – A man believed to have been killed in the outskirts of this city two years ago and whose remains were recovered only last week, turned up alive.

Sergio Dimas Jr. said he might have been mistakenly identified as the slain man through a wallet stolen from him, according to a report by the local GMA-7 station.

Dimas said he has been staying at Mabini Extension in Digos City, Davao del Sur in the two years of his “death.”

In a separate report by the Mindanao Times, Dimas said he lost his wallet containing his Social Security System identification card and driver’s license to a thief.

Police also thought that the remains of a man exhumed last week in Sitio Igpit, Barangay Sibulan in Toril district this city were that of Dimas because of the ID cards found with the body.

Police also recovered a cell phone subscriber identity module (SIM) card, an automated teller machine (ATM) card, and a pair of shoes.
