Group urges Comelec to disqualify An Waray

TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines – A progressive group called the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan Sinirangan Bisayas (Bayan SB) said it would ask the Commission on Elections to disqualify the An Waray party-list group, which it alleged does not truly represent a marginalized sector. 

In a press conference yesterday, Jun Berino, Bayan SB secretary-general, said the way An Waray operates is not in accordance with the party-list system.  

An Waray has two representatives in Congress, namely Neil Montejo and Florencio Noel, who is now running for Tacloban mayor against re-electionist Mayor Alfred Romualdez.
