Dog feasts on dead infant in Calapan

CALAPAN CITY, Philippines – A deplorable scene shocked residents of this city when the body of a baby was found by a scavenger in a vacant lot here already being torn into pieces by a street dog.

Police said the infant’s body was discovered in a vacant lot in Barangay Pachoca last Saturday morning when the scavenger saw the dog chomping what looked like fresh meat.

When the scavenger scared away the dog and went nearer, he learned that the meat turned out to be a sliced-off hand of a baby.

Not far away, a ripped-up box turned out to contain half of the infant’s body in a plastic bag.

An autopsy showed that the infant could be seven to eight months old, but could not say if it was male or female because the lower half of its body was already gone.
