LTFRB grounds 10 bus units in Davao

The Philippine Star

DAVAO CITY, Philippines  – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has suspended 10 units of a bus company in Samal Island after one of its buses figured in a vehicular accident that killed five persons and injured 22 others last week.

The Island City Express bus with plate number LWU-812 was traversing Barangay Kaputian when it crashed reportedly due to mechanical problem.

The local government of Samal Island appealed to the LTFRB to postpone the implementation of the suspension order, citing the influx of travelers visiting the island.

But the LTFRB said the bus firm has 15 more units that were allowed to ply their route.

The suspension order would allow the LTFRB to check on the road worthiness of the other buses of Island City Express.
