Quezon vice gov walks out of session

By Michelle Zoleta - The Philippine Star

LUCENA CITY , Philippines – Quezon Vice Gov. Vicente Alcala walked out as presiding officer of the provincial board last Monday to signify his objection to the P215-million Supplementary Annual Investment Plan (SAIP) certified by Gov. David Suarez as urgent.

Alcala’s walkout caught the board members by surprise, prompting board member Manuel Butardo to call his colleague Romano Talaga to act as temporary presiding officer, who along with the others proceeded to approve the SAIP.

Alcala had repeatedly objected to the board’s consideration of the SAIP, saying it was not in Monday’s agenda and could wait for the next regular session after going through further review by the appropriate board committees.
