Petition to exclude actor from voters' list denied

Mariveles, Bataan, Philippines – The Mariveles Municipal Trial Court (MTC) denied on Monday the petition of a former mayor to exclude former actor Juan Miguel “Onemig” Bondoc from the voters’ list in Mariveles town.

In a one-page decision, Judge Damaso Asuncion Jr. said petitioner Oscar de los Reyes, former Mariveles town mayor, failed to prove that Bondoc is not a resident of the municipality.

Asuncion added that De los Reyes and his counsel failed to attend the hearing on the petition.

Bondoc said he had stayed in Barangay Balong Anito even before he registered as a voter of this town last Feb. 16. He said he has also been frequenting the place to visit his grandparents since his childhood.

Bondoc filed his certificate of candidacy for congressman in the second district of Bataan under Aksyon Democratiko. He is running against Bataan Gov. Enrique Garcia Jr. of the Nationalist Unity Party and former governor Leonardo Roman of the Nationalist Peoples Coalition.
