Dutertes running for mayor, vice mayor in Davao

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Since his daughter, Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is not seeking reelection, Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is running for mayor in this city with his son, Paolo, as his running mate.

Duterte’s certificate of candidacy was filed by his chief of staff, Christopher Lawrence Go, at around 2 p.m. last Friday at the Commission on Election office at the Magsaysay Park Complex here. Paolo filed his COC at around 4:41 p.m.

Both father and son are running under the Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod Party.

In a statement, Sara said she is giving way to her father because she plans to go back to law practice.

Sara, who is three months pregnant, has also been advised by her doctors to take some rest.
