Old, familiar faces in S. Mindanao polls
DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Old, familiar faces have trooped to the Commission on Elections’ offices in Southern Mindanao to file of their certificates of candidacy (COCs), some seeking reelection while the others are running for different posts in the May 2013 elections.
There were a few new aspirants though who have filed their COCs since Monday.
In Davao City, majority of the incumbent city councilors in the three districts are seeking reelection under the Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod, the ruling local political party.
Davao del Sur Gov. Douglas Cagas has filed his COC for mayor of the capital city of Digos, while his son, Rep. Mark Cagas, is running for governor.
Cagas’ wife Mercides, an incumbent provincial board member, is running for Congress, to take the place of her son.
In Compostela Valley, Gov. Arthur Uy is seeking another term with former congressman Manuel “Way Kurat” Zamora as running mate.
Zamora’s daughter, Compostela Valley first district Rep. Maricar Zamora-Apsay, and second district Rep. Rommel Amatong are seeking another term in Congress.
Davao del Norte second district Rep. Anton Lagdameo is also seeking reelection, as with Gov. Rodolfo del Rosario, too.
Meanwhile, Mayor Michelle Rabat of the capital city of Mati in Davao Oriental, earlier said she would run for another three-year term.
