Antipolo governor to run for mayor

MANILA, Philippines - Rizal Gov. Casimiro Ynares lll will slide down to challenge incumbent Antipolo City Mayor Danilo Leyble in next year’s elections.

Ynares announced his decision to run for Antipolo City mayor during a meeting with supporters at the Ynares Sports Center last Saturday.

Ynares’s father, Casimiro II is running for governor in Rizal, with Steve Salonga, son of former senator Jovito Salonga, as his running mate.

The Ynareses will run under the banner of the United Nationalist Alliance.

Meanwhile, former Councilor Lorenzo Juan Sumulong will challenge Rizal second District Rep. Romeo Acop.
