MANILA, Philippines - Two military generals availed themselves of early retirement to run for mayor in their respective hometowns.
Brig. Gen. Ramona Go, the first female Army general and former assistant deputy chief of staff for personnel, will run for mayor of San Enrique, Iloilo.
Maj. Gen. Raoul Reyes, the former deputy chief of staff for personnel, will run for mayor of Murcia, Negros Occidental.
Go, who retired last Sept. 30, filed her certificate of candidacy last Monday. She was supposed to leave the service on March 21, 2013.
Reyes is expected to file his COC for mayor of Murcia today. He was supposed to bow out of the service on April 11, 2013.
