- Roel Pareño - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines  – A town vice mayor and his wife were unhurt but three persons, including a police escort, were wounded in a grenade explosion late Wednesday in a village in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, police said yesterday.

Senior Superintendent William Manzan, Zamboanga del Sur commander, said investigation showed that Labangan Vice Mayor Ukol Talumpa Tumog, his wife Leah and their police escort PO1 Mohammad Magumpara, were about to board their service vehicle  when unidentified men on a motorcycle lobbed a fragmentation grenade.

Magumpara and a certain Glenda Ballarta and her three-year-old daughter, who were passing by, were injured in the explosion.

Police are looking into politics as the possible motive of the attack.
