Dengue kills Taiwanese detainee; 4 others affected

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines  – A Taiwanese detained here died while four others were hospitalized due to dengue Sunday afternoon, police said yesterday.

Calabarzon police director Chief Superintendent James Melad has ordered the Regional Police Community Relations office headed by Senior Superintendent Rolando Opeña to conduct a massive cleanup drive following the death of Xiao Ming Yu.

Melad said Xiao was rushed to the Calamba Medical Center after he suffered high fever, vomiting and diarrhea.

Four other Taiwanese detainees were rushed to the same hospital after they tested positive for dengue fever. They are among the 377 foreigners detained for online fraud.
