Couple dead in Cebu landslide

MANILA, Philippines – A couple died in a landslide caused by heavy rains in Cebu last Tuesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.

The incident happened in Sitio Pangilatan, Barangay Cantao-an in Naga City at around 6:20 p.m. Tuesday.

Dionisio Villarmia 42, and his wife, Juliana, 47, and their four children were about to sleep when their house was hit by boulders due to soil erosion.

The body of Mrs. Villarmia was recovered at around 8 p.m. Tuesday while her husband died at the Minglanilla District Hospital in Cebu.

Their four children survived the incident and are now under the custody of the city social welfare and development office.
