MANILA, Philippines – The campaign waged by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) against loose firearms resulted in the arrest Saturday of two murder suspects and a gun-for-hire in separate raids in Cavite and General Santos City.
CIDG chief Director Samuel Pagdilao Jr. said his men, armed with a search warrant issued by a local court, raided the house of Patrick Caronan, of Valleyview Royale Subdivision in Tagaytay City, and recovered a cache of illegal firearms.
The raiders arrested Caronan and his four companions. One of them was identified as Victor Belardo, who has a warrant of arrest for murder issued by the Tagaytay City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 18.
Pagdilao said CIDG Region 12 operatives implemented a search warrant issued by the General Santos City RTC Branch 35 against Edwin Aficionado in Barangay Heights also on Saturday.
Pagdilao said Aficionado is linked to a gun-for-hire syndicate operating in General Santos City.
