2 frat neophytes to file raps vs leaders
MANILA, Philippines - San Beda College law students and Lex Leonum Fraternitas neophytes Ryan Maranan and Ed Lara have decided to file charges against the leaders of the fraternity for the death of hazing victim Marc Andrei Marcos, police said yesterday.
Calabarzon police director Chief Superintendent James Melad said Maranan and Lara have tagged Gian Angelo Veluz as their “handler” and one of the five master initiators.
Melad said Maranan and Lara along with seven fraternity neophytes expressed their willingness to testify against the suspects in Marcos’ hazing death.
Maranan and Lara came out last week to reveal what they knew about Marcos’ death. They told investigators there were at least 24 persons during the hazing rites conducted at the farm owned by the family of Veluz in Sitio Bisaya, Dasmariñas City, Cavite.
Melad said the two neophytes are under police protection.
He identified the other neophytes as Manuel Adrian Cabansag, Enrico Pizaras Lopes, Daniel Almuete Baltazar, Jan Marcel Valendo Ragaza, John Ray Rivera, Jason Marquez Esquerra, and Reynaldo Dalisay.
