Domogan bats for John Hay arbitration
MANILA, Philippines - Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan has belied reports that he is supporting efforts of the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) to collect P3 billion from the Camp John Hay Development Corp. (CJHDevCo).
In a statement the other day, Domogan said that instead of arbitrarily pushing for the collection of fees, the BCDA must submit itself to arbitration with the CJHDevCo at the Philippine Dispute Resolution Center as stipulated in their contract.
Domogan said the arbitration would detail how much the lessee truly owes the government and not the contested P3 billion claimed by BCDA.
He said the city is now finalizing its stand on issues surrounding the Camp John Hay dispute.
While he admitted being bent on collecting whatever the CJHDevCo owes the BCDA, Domogan said it is only through arbitration that a compromise may be reached.
Domogan said copies of the city’s position paper will be furnished to both the BCDA and CJHDevCo as well as other concerned agencies, including the Office of the President.
