Water gushing from faucet masks escape

- Roel Pareño - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Three inmates bolted their detention cell in a police station here Friday night, using the sound of water gushing from a faucet to mask their escape, authorities said.

The inmates, facing charges ranging from illegal possession of firearms to violation of the election gun ban and robbery, were identified as Ben Asdali, Orlic Taguran, and Aldrin Jailani.

They escaped from the detention cell of Police Station 7 in Barangay Sta. Maria here at around 9 p.m. Friday.

Investigation showed the inmates opened the faucet in their cell in full with the gushing water masking their moves, climbed to the ceiling, passed through the adjacent room used as a post office, and made good their escape.

Chief Inspector Larry Domingo, head of Police Station 7, said all police units in the city have been alerted on the jailbreak.
