Chicken adobo downs 100 students, university president in Davao
DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The president of the Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU), several school administrators and more than a hundred students were hospitalized after eating chicken adobo served for lunch following a student leaders’ gathering at the school on Sunday.
Fr. Joel Tabora and the students were rushed to different hospitals here after complaining of stomachache and vomiting.
At least 43 students were brought to the San Pedro Hospital, 63 to the Davao Doctors Hospital and four to the Davao Medical School Foundation Hospital.
There has been no complaint filed with the Davao City police.
“There has also been no word from the school asking for any help or for the police to come in,” Davao City director Senior Superintendent Ronald dela Rosa told The STAR.
Officials of the ADDU gave assurance that they would conduct a thorough investigation of the incident, adding that assistance is being provided to the affected school officials and students.
