LUCENA CITY, Philippines – Police have beefed up security in this city following the bank robbery that left three security guards dead on Thursday afternoon.
Senior Superintendent Valeriano de Leon, Quezon police director, said personnel of the Ultra Security Agency detailed at the United Coconut Planters Bank branch on Quezon Avenue here was about to board an armored van parked in front of the bank when at least seven men armed with high-caliber firearms shot the three security guards, killing two of them on the spot.
The robbers, who were onboard a blue Toyota Revo with license plate XHC-759, then snatched a duffle bag containing money that had come from Manila.
The slain security guards were identified as Joel Barrameda, 37; Roldan Consigno, 37; and Marlo de Guzman, 38.
