2 drunk men meet their death on railroad tracks
Manila, Philippines - Don’t drink too much – and stay away from the train’s path.
This, as two drunk men who fell asleep on the railroad tracks, were ran over and killed by a train in Ragay, Camarines Sur yesterday, police said.
PO2 Roberto Ferrer, an investigator of the Ragay police, identified the victims as Jeffrey Carpo, 22, and Kenny Catudan, both residents of Barangay Agrupasyon, Ragay town.
Citing his initial investigation, Ferrer said the two men had attended a drinking spree with friends and were apparently on their way home when they met the tragedy at around 3:30 a.m. yesterday.
Samuel Martinez, chairman of Barangay Apale where the incident took place, told police he was awakened by the sound of the Bicol-bound train ceasing near his house, prompting him to go out and check and eventually see the bodies of the two victims.
The train operator said he did not see the two men who were both clad in dark shirts.
Ferrer said both victims suffered bone fractures while Carpo’s right hand was cut off. – Cecille Suerte Felipe, Francis Elevado
