Manila, Philippines - Former senator Eddie Ilarde asked the Commission on Elections (Comelec) the other day to put up express lanes for senior citizens in polling precincts to make it easier for them to cast their votes in the 2013 polls.
Ilarde said senior citizens also belong to the “vulnerable sector” that has special needs just like persons with disabilities and the indigenous folk.
“We are asking the Comelec to have exclusive lanes for senior citizens so that it will be easy for us to vote next year in all polling precincts,” said Ilarde who went to the Comelec office in Manila on Wednesday to meet with poll officials.
For his part, Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes gave assurance that they would extend privileges to senior citizens.
