DAVAO CITY, Philippines – A soldier was killed in an encounter with communist rebels in Sitio Camarin, Barangay Napnapan, Pantukan, Compostela Valley at around 10 a.m. yesterday.
The victim was identified as Pfc. Jaino Vito of the 71st Infantry Battalion (IB).
The Army’s 10th Infantry Division said members of the 71st IB were on a mission in Sitio Camarin when they chanced upon the group of New People’s Army rebels.
