Rebs kill mining consultant, cop

MANILA, Philippines - A mining consultant and a policeman were killed in an ambush by communist rebels in Kiblawan, Davao del Sur Wednesday afternoon, the military said.

Lt. Col. Lyndon Paniza, spokesman of the Army’s 10th Infantry Division, said that shortly after the ambush in Barangay Kimlawis that left retired police official Villamino Hectin, a mining consultant, and his companion, PO1 Roy Tunso, dead, the rebels also waylaid an Army reinforcement, wounding two militiamen.
