Social media to propagate Rizal teachings
MANILA, Philippines - The Order of the Knights of Rizal is tapping the social media to intensify its efforts to propagate the national hero’s teachings, especially among the youth.
This online advocacy dubbed “Just Like Rizal” will be launched through the “Asalto kay Pepe” celebration at the Manila Yacht Club at 6 p.m. today, the eve of his 151st birthday.
“Just Like Rizal” forms part of the Knights of Rizal’s program for 2012-2014 under the theme “Buhayin si Rizal sa Bawat Filipino.”
The launch was announced recently by Knights of Rizal’s newly elected supreme commander, Reghis Romero II, a Knight Grand Cross of Rizal, when he and eight other officers were inducted by Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, himself a Knight Grand Officer of Rizal.
“We are using the social media to help us in propagating the Rizalian doctrine as mandated by Republic Act 646 that created our organization,” Romero said in his acceptance speech during the induction rites last Thursday, coinciding with the celebration of Knights of Rizal’s 61st Charter Day.
