MANILA, Philippines - A non-government organization has appealed to the Commission on Audit to conduct an audit of the Bulacan provincial government’s funds to ensure that the residents’ taxes are being spent wisely and properly.
In a statement, the Balikatan People’s Alliance said provincial officials have admitted delays in paying suppliers of medicine and contractors or service providers as they have to wait for the release of the province’s internal revenue allotment, among other reasons.
Balikatan added that up to now, provincial officials have not allegedly rendered a detailed public accounting of calamity funds.
