7 dead as truck rams into houses, stores

STA. JOSEFA, Agusan del Sur, Philippines  – Seven people were killed while seven others were critically injured when a 10-wheeler truck used in transporting logs rammed into stores and houses along the national highway in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur last Thursday, authorities said.

Chief Inspector Floriano Ravelo, San Francisco police chief, identified three of the fatalities as Faustino Doce, 62, a store owner; Samuel Arayan, 31, a security guard of the Davao Central Warehouse’s San Francisco branch; and Danilo Suan, 55. The four other fatalities remained unidentified.

In critical condition were Lydia Bagang, Dino Bagang, Vina Molog, Restituto Villares, Hermogenes Aca-ac, Augustino Villavicencio, and Lloyd Araña.

Ravelo said the truck driver fled after the accident.
