4 vacationers meet tragic end on Quezon highway
Manila, Philippines - Tagkawayan, Quezon – Four vacationers, including a family of three, were killed while seven others were injured when a van collided with a passenger bus along the Quirino Highway here Wednesday night, police said.
Police identified three of the fatalities as Arnel Repol, 37; Arriane Repol, 21; and Harold Repol, 15. The fourth fatality, a woman, was still unidentified as of press time.
The four, all residents of Banay-banay, Cabuyao, Laguna, had come from their vacation in Samar.
Police said they were cruising a descending curved section of the Quirino Highway in Barangay San Francisco here onboard a Ford Everest when they met the tragedy.
Reports said the van was overtaking another vehicle when it rammed into the Bicol-bound bus on the opposite lane.
The bus driver, a certain Rainer Mabuti, 54, of Palanas, Masbate, was arrested.
The seven injured were identified as Lucita Favor, 59; Tristan Jay Salvacion, 21; Ana Saldevar, 42; Kathleen Cate Agarao, 22; Kim Carl Roxas, 5; Rose Marie Amante, 45; and Violenia Suroten, 55. They were rushed to the Tagkawayan District Hospital for medical attention. – With Cecille Suerte Felipe
