Mother and son dead in Batangas mishap

BATANGAS, Philippines – A 27-year-old mother and her two-year-old son were killed while more than 20 others were hurt when their bus headed toward the Batangas pier fell into a half-meter deep canal along the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) yesterday morning, authorities said.

Alarcon Ocfemia, STAR tollway operations officer, identified the fatalities as Rita Suege and her son Elijah Emmanuel, who hailed from Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro.
