2 robbery suspects slain in Laguna shootout

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines  – Two suspected robbers were killed in an alleged shootout with police in Barangay San Antonio, Biñan, Laguna Saturday night, authorities said yesterday.

Calabarzon police director Chief Superintendent James Melad, said one of the slain suspects was identified as Joey Dayoc, 39, of Barangay Aplaya, Sta. Rosa City. The other suspect has yet to be identified.

Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz, Laguna police director, said that prior to the shootout, the suspects grabbed the bag of factory worker Lyn Garcia containing a cell phone and P1,000.

The robbers fled towards Biñan town after the heist but the victim immediately rushed to the police station to report the incident.

An hour later, the police spotted the two men in Barangay San Antonio. The suspects shot it out with the police, triggering a 15-minute gunfight.
