MANILA, Philippines - A four-year-old boy was killed when suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels went on a shooting spree in Northern Samar yesterday morning, the military said.
Lt. Col. Niceforo Diaz Jr., of the Army’s 8th Infantry Division, said the rebels stormed the village of Taylor in Las Navas, Northern Samar at around 8:30 a.m. yesterday, indiscriminately firing their guns at houses and killing John Lloyd Elizalde who was in his home.
Diaz said the rebels apparently harassed the villagers for not extending support to them. – Cecille Suerte Felipe, Jaime Laude
