- Charlie Lagasca -

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – Thousands of villagers in the northwestern coastal towns of Claveria and Santa Praxedes in Cagayan have been affected by flooding triggered by prolonged rainfall over the region in the past few days.

Bonifacio Cuarteros, Cagayan disaster council head, said the provincial government has brought aid to some 850 affected families in Claveria and nearly 400 other families in Santa Praxedes.

The floods affected nearly 2,000 hectares of palay in the harvesting stage and 1,104 hectares in the reproductive stage, the civil defense office said.
