All's set for P'sinan's 'Triple P'
MANILA, Philippines - All is set for Pangasinan’s triple celebration that is hoped to include the province again among must-see destinations in the country this summer and season of athletics.
Gov. Amado Espino, Jr. said the biggest three-in-one summer spectacle in the province will kick off on April 10 with the Pangasinan Zarzuela at the provincial capitol’s beachfront, followed by an electronic fireworks display to welcome the “Triple P” celebration, referring to Pangasinan Day, Pistay Dayat and Palarong Pambansa, from April 11 to May 15.
Provincial administrator Rafael Baraan said this year’s Pangasinan Day or Agew na Pangasinan, marking the province’s 432nd founding anniversary, will highlight three important activities – the presentation of the draft research study of Pangasinan history and culture; the formal presentation of the official orthography of the province (the first of its kind in the country); and the first-ever local literary contest featuring the works of 45 homegrown writers using the Pangasinan language.
The Pistay Dayat or Sea Festival is dubbed as the “mother of all festivals” in the north as it features fun-filled events.
Serving as the grand finale of the Triple P celebration is the Palarong Pambansa 2012 from May 6 to 12, with some 10,000 student athletes and coaches vying for medals in various sporting events.
