2 dead in ground collapse in General Santos

MANILA, Philippines - Two persons died while another was injured when the ground caved-in in General Santos City, officials said.

National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council executive director Benito Ramos said the three were laying down the water pipes in Barangay Labangal at around 9 a.m. when the ground collapsed.

The fatalities were identified as Ricky Talino, 26 and a certain “Renren,” 30. Jerry Talino, 24, is in critical condition and confined at the St. Elizabeth Hospital. 

Ramos, however, clarified reports that a landslide caused the incident, saying it could have been due to the pressure applied on the pipe.
