- Raymund Catindig, Charlie Lagasca -

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – Three persons, including two six-year-old girls were killed when a trailer truck went wayward along a mountain section of the national highway in Diadi town here late Friday afternoon.

Reports identified the fatalities as Trisha Polagon and Diana de Guzman, both six years old and Dominador Marso, 60, all residents of Barangay Nagsabaran.

The truck skidded along the road and sideswiped Marso when the driver lost control of the steering wheel while negotiating a curved stretch of the highway.

The two girls, who were on the roadside, were reportedly crushed when the sacks of corn on the truck fell on them.

The truck also rammed into a parked tricycle and a house.

It was learned that the Manila-bound truck, driven by Danilo Manzano, 32, was loaded with 20 tons of corn.

The truck driver, who is facing charges of homicide and reckless imprudence, and four other bystanders, were also injured.
