Poor Albay families to get P332 million in CCT funds
LEGAZPI CITY ,Philippines – Albay’s economy gets a boost this year with an additional P332 million for 19,767 indigent families from four towns and this city under the government’s conditional cash transfer (CCT) or the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
Gov. Joey Salceda said the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is set to release an initial P55.4 million, equivalent to two months’ allocation, through the Land Bank of the Philippines. The amount will be given directly to poor families at P1,400 each per month.
Scheduled to receive the monthly CCT funds are 3,130 families in Camalig town; 3,946 in Guinobatan; 3,779 in Oas; 2,528 in Tiwi; and 6,384 in Legazpi City.
Salceda, who last year fought for the full coverage of 4Ps in Albay’s 15 towns and three cities, said the program “constitutes the biggest relief to poor families in the province in time of economic stress.”
He thanked DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman for the speedy release of the 4Ps funds to his province, which shared the onslaught of disasters that struck the country recently.
Albay has been among the first provinces to be fully covered by the 4Ps.
