MANILA, Philippines - In the wake of tropical storm “Sendong” last year, the GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF), GMA Network Inc.’s socio-civic arm, goes beyond relief assistance with its long-term rehabilitation program for selected areas in Iligan City.
In particular, the foundation, in collaboration with the Iligan City government, recently held the groundbreaking of the Kapuso Village in Mandulog.
The project, which will soon rise on a three-hectare lot donated by the city government, aims to build 200 houses for families displaced by “Sendong.”
The groundbreaking was attended by GMAKF executive vice president Mel Tiangco, Iligan City Mayor Lawrence Cruz, Department of Public Works and Highways-Region 11 director Norma Gironella, National Housing Authority-Region 10 assistant general manager Froilan Kampitan, and Task Force on Housing and Resettlement head Reynaldo Roque.
