Gun-for-hire arrested in Laguna

MANILA, Philippines - A notorious gun-for-hire from Batangas was arrested in Laguna on Tuesday after four years in hiding, authorities said.

The suspect, Rommel Garcia, 28, alias Bunog, did not resist arrest when Laguna policemen cornered him in his hideout in Barangay Dos, Siniloan town at around 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz, Laguna police director, said Garcia had two pending arrest warrants for murder and robbery with homicide.

Cruz tagged Garcia in the killing of Vergel Atienza and Adelaida Kasilag and the wounding of her secretary, Rudy Asumbrado.   – Non Alquitran, Ed Amoroso
