UP student wounded in another Los Baños robbery
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – A day before police declared the killing of University of the Philippines Los Baños student Ray Bernard Peñaranda solved last March 10, another student was stabbed and wounded by robbers in his house also in Los Baños town, authorities said.
The victim, 19-year-old Peter Cruz, an Associate in Arts student of the UP Open University, sustained stab wounds in the abdomen and both arms. He remains confined in a local hospital.
Police said Cruz put up a fight when he saw two men carrying his laptop at around 11:15 p.m. of March 9 in his home at Roda Subdivision in Barangay Anos, Los Baños.
Cruz rushed to his room and got a steel bar, with which he struck one of the robbers on the head. But the other robber stabbed him.
The robbers fled on foot. Neighbors rushed Cruz to the hospital.
Police said the case was still being investigated.
Peñaranda was stabbed, too, in a robbery last March 4. Three suspects – Tyrone Terbio, Carl Dactil de Guzman, and Joseph Beltran – are now in police custody.
