MANILA, Philippines - Aftershocks continued to rock Negros Island yesterday, more than a month after the magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck it, leaving over 50 people dead.
The aftershocks occurred at around 12:54 a.m., 2:41 a.m. and 12:51 p.m., and were recorded at magnitude 4.3, 4.3 and 2.2, respectively.
The epicenter of the first quake was traced at 15 kilometers northwest of Jimalalud, Negros Oriental. It was felt at Intensity 4 in Jimalalud town and Intensity 2 in Tayasan town.
The second tremor was located four kms southwest of Jimalalud. It was felt at Intensity 3 in Tayasan and Intensity 2 in Vallehermoso town.
The third tremor was centered at 26 kms southeast of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental. It was felt at Intensity 1 in Ayungon, Negros Oriental.
Seismologists said no damage or aftershock was expected in all three quakes.
