NBI tracing actual venue of hazing

- Sandy Araneta -

MANILA, Philippines - The officer-in-charge of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) yesterday said the agency is now trying to find out where the hazing that claimed the life of law student Marvin Reglos actually occurred, as another fraternity said it was the one that rented the resort in Antipolo City.

NBI OIC Nonnatus Caesar Rojas said the NBI is tracing the actual place where the Lambda Rho Beta fraternity of the San Beda College of Law held its initiation rites.

This, after the Gamma Delta Epsilon fraternity of the University of Santo Tomas said it was the one that rented the Antipolo resort where the Lambda Rho Beta supposedly conducted the hazing.

A Gamma Delta Epsilon member, Christian Adobo, one of those charged for Reglos’ death, yesterday said he could not have had a hand in the fatal hazing last month because they belong to different fraternities.

Adobo, accompanied by his lawyer, submitted a sworn statement to the NBI yesterday, saying he and 17 Gamma Delta Epsilon “brods,” not Lambda Rho Beta members, were the ones who rented the Antipolo resort until the morning of Feb. 19 to discuss preparations for their fraternity’s 64th founding anniversary celebration.
